HOW MUCH A PHYSIOTHERAPIST CAN MAKE :

Ireland :

A physiotherapist's salary in Ireland ranges from $27000 to $60000 a year andthis will of course be slightly affected by the experience factor and employer, majorly. Of course physiotherapists are paid in euros in Ireland but I put the figure in US dollars so we can get a uniform basis for comparison.

Australia :

Physiotherapists in Australia are paid a salary of between $37000 to $66000 a year. This is the US dollar conversion of a salary in AUD (Australian Dollars).

Canada :

Physiotherapists in Canada earn between $36000 and $72000 a year. This is the US dollar conversion as you would be paid in Canadian dollars. It also seems that experience doesn't make much difference in the physiotherapy salary.

United States of America (USA) :

The physiotherapy salary in the US ranges from $46000 to $91000 per year. Years of experience reflect in the size of the salary package in the United States. Physiotherapy salary may also vary slightly with the city you work.

Singapore :

A physiotherapist is Singapore earns between $13000 to $57000 a year. You will be paid in Singaporean dollars but this is the US dollars conversion.

South Africa :

Physiotherapists in South Africa earn between $10000 and $24000 a year. This is the US dollar conversion for the South African rand salary.

United kingdom :

In the UK physiotherapists earn between $28000 and $64000 a year.

Dubai :

Physiotherapy salary in Dubai ranges from $7000 to $65000. Now that is the widest range I have seen so far but I suspect that who your employer is plays a very important factor in how much you are paid. I hear the international hospitals in Dubai pay well.
Pakistan

The average salary for a Physiotherapist is Rs 29,543 per month in Pakistan. Salary estimates are based on 14 salaries submitted anonymously to Indeed by Physiotherapist employees, users, and collected from past and present job advertisements on Indeed in the past 36 months.

PHYSIOTHERAPY REGULATION IN CANADA:

In Canada, physiotherapy is a regulated profession. To work as a physiotherapist, you must register with the regulatory body in the province or territory where you work. It is illegal to practise if you are not licensed or registered. Only registered physiotherapists are eligible to use the terms “physiotherapist”, “physical therapist” and the professional designation “PT”.

The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) evaluates educational credentials and administers exams for competency on behalf of most of the provincial and territorial regulators. Each provincial and territorial regulator may also have additional requirements before you can practise. CAPR provides information to the regulators on credentials and qualifications, and the regulators decide who can and who cannot receive a licence to practice.

PRACTICING IN CANADA

In Canada, the profession of physiotherapist is regulated in all Canadian provinces and territories (except the Northwest Territories and Nunavut). The provincial / territorial regulators set the standards for license. However, first the graduate must take and pass the  Physiotherapy Competency Examination (PCE), which is administered by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR). Having passed the PCE the graduate then applies for a license to the Province or Territory where they wish to practice.

FUTURE OF PHYSIOTHERAPIST

INTRODUCTION :

Physical Therapy or Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession, in which Physical Therapist provides treatment to individuals for developing, maintaining and restoring the maximum functional capacity throughout life. The role of physical therapy to improve functionality in circumstances where movement and function are affected by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors. Physical Therapy includes physical, psychological, emotional and social well-being.  In physical therapy interaction between physical  therapist  (PT),  patients/clients,  other  health professionals,  families,  care  givers,  and  communities is important to assess  functional potential and  goals are  set by using  knowledge  and  skills  that  are  specific  to  physical therapist.

Human movement is considered as central to the health and well-being of individuals in Physical therapy profession.  There  lot  of  skills  that  are  used  to  treat  the  movement  disorders includes, manual therapy, exercise therapy and the application of  funds, of  electrotherapy.  Work  area  for  physiotherapists  are Outpatient departments Intensive care unit, Women's health, geriatric health,  Orthopedics,  Occupational  health,  terminally  ill  Pediatrics, Neurological rehabilitation.

Physiotherapists are needed in virtually every department, from general out-patients to intensive care, where round-the-clock chest physiotherapy can be vital to keep unconscious patients breathing.  There is also a need for physiotherapists in many other places like Industry, Special schools, Leisure and sport 8 clubs.  Nowadays, more and more physiotherapists work in the community as treatment and advice for patients in their own homes in nursing homes or day centers, in schools and in health centers.  The personal qualities needed for this gratifying role are tolerance, patience, compassion, and good communication skills. Pakistan is a developing country here most of the health care fields are under the process of development. Physical therapy is amongst one of the neglected health care fields in Pakistan due to lack of resources. In this field there are lack of educational and job  opportunities  and  no  better  future   prospects .Unfortunately,  there  is  no  central  regulating  authority  in Pakistan like there is for other health care professions such as; Pakistan Medical  & Dental  College (PM&DC). In spite of that local societies  and associations  like  Pakistan physical  therapy association (PPTA) Pakistan physiotherapy society (PPS),  and charted society of Physical therapy  (CSP)  are working for their professional  growth  and development in  the  country.  These organizations have their own limitations due to lack of funds, proper leadership, and coordination among the professionals and associations.

Imperative commitments are needed by the government and all the other stakeholders to uplift the field of physiotherapy, save the future of Pakistani physiotherapists and open new vistas for international cooperation.
